The Body Doesn’t Forget: Soft De-Armoring, the Psoas, and the Hidden Roots of Sexual Healing (with Susanne Roursgaard & Stine Krage)

In this conversation Rahi sits with two Scandinavian pioneers of pelvic healing. Susanne Roursgaard is a psychotherapist, body-oriented trauma therapist, sexologist and former midwife of 23 years who originated soft de-armoring and created the Gaia Method. Stine Krage is a certified midwife, somatic therapist, integral sexologist and Compassionate Inquiry practitioner who co-created the Prostatic Portal and specializes in male sexual health and prostate healing. Together they explain what soft de-armoring actually is: an ultra-light, listening touch on the fascia that waits at still points rather than kneading muscle, and that lets the body decide when it is ready to soften.

Listeners learn why genital de-armoring so often leads beyond adult sexuality into early childhood, which Susanne says is why she stopped calling her work sexual de-armoring. Stine describes the parallels she sees between prostate and cervix, and why surrender rather than performance opens deeper states for men. The guests also explore breath as both a diagnostic and a tool, sound healing with voice, tuning forks and singing bowls, why the psoas cannot simply be massaged free, practitioner sexual-energy boundaries, and why medical screening belongs before any pelvic bodywork. It is a rich listen for practitioners and for anyone curious about pelvic floor release and somatic sexual healing.

What You’ll Learn About Soft De-Armoring, Prostate Healing, and Somatic Sexual Practice

$

Why de-armoring is not massage — and what it actually touches in the fascia and nervous system

$

What “matching tone” means for a practitioner, and what happens to the boundary between practitioner and client when it’s found

$

How the body tests the practitioner before it opens — and why patience, not technique, is what passes that test

$

Why 70–80% of what lives in the pelvic tissue traces to early childhood rather than adult sexual experience, and what Susanne finds when clients come in hoping to heal a “sexual issue”

$

The parallel between the neural wiring of the prostate and the cervix — and why most men have cycled through practitioners who don’t touch the very tissue most in need of healing

$

How Stine reads breath diagnostically from the moment a client walks in — and why a trauma breath pattern can make somatic work unreachable until the breath itself is addressed

$

What over-breathing does to CO2 tolerance and why it keeps the nervous system locked in fight-or-flight regardless of what happens in session

$

How sounding connects the vocal cords anatomically to the cervix and prostate — and why letting sound move amplifies whatever the body is already doing

$

What genuine space holding actually requires of a practitioner — including the capacity to sit with intense emotion, maintain unhurried presence, and hold clear sexual boundaries in any container

$

Why the psoas deserves its own module — as the muscle of fight, flight, and freeze, the seat of early trauma coding, and the reason direct manipulation cannot reach what it’s holding

$

Why clinical knowledge — including when to refer before ever working with a client — is not separate from somatic practice but essential to it

Common Questions About This Episode

What is soft de-armoring?

Soft de-armoring is an approach originated by Susanne Roursgaard that uses ultra-light touch on the fascia rather than deep pressure. The practitioner rests at still points, listens for the body’s readiness, and lets tension release in its own time. Susanne and Stine Krage describe it as attunement and presence more than technique, and as distinct from massage.

Why does the pelvis hold so much emotional tension?

According to Susanne Roursgaard, many clients who arrive with an adult sexual concern find that pelvic work leads them back to early childhood, often to moments of not being seen, heard or allowed to express. She suggests the pelvis stores feelings of shame, guilt and low self-worth alongside sexual experience, which is why gentle, patient work there can feel so significant.

Can the psoas muscle be released with massage?

In this episode Susanne Roursgaard explains that she does not try to release the psoas directly through massage or trigger points, because she sees it as reflecting a fight, flight or freeze alert state. Her approach is indirect: breath, rebozo-style pendulation she learned as a midwife, and attending to whatever keeps the nervous system on guard.

What is prostate de-armoring and who is it for?

Stine Krage, co-creator of the Prostatic Portal, works with men’s pelvic and prostate healing. She notes that many men have seen doctors and therapists who never touched this area, leaving shame unaddressed. She describes surrender, rather than performance or doing, as the doorway to deeper states, and stresses medical screening before any prostate bodywork.
